The difference is minimal. For the 2026 Ranger, it carries over unchanged, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Being that they took the “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” route, this makes it easy to get a quality, and reliable 2026, without paying a higher price for features that may not reflect that.
With Ford opening the books for the 2026 Rangers this past July, it’s only a matter of time until they start rolling out to dealership lots everywhere. The 2026 Rangers will come in 4 trims, these being the XL starting at $33,350, XLT starting at $35,875, Lariat starting at $43,755, and the Raptor starting at $56,070.
Of these trims, the one that Car and Driver highlights as the standout is the XLT. This is because it “is a good starting point”. If you want to make the most of it, you can add the High Equipment group as it adds heated, power-adjustable front seats, 12.0-inch infotainment screen and dual-zone automatic climate control.
If you don’t care for the optional upgrades, then you can still find some great features. The ones that stand out the most to us are the 10-inch centerstack, as well as a wireless charging pad.
The Ford Ranger makes 270 horsepower. When looking at the Ranger engine lineup, the standard one is the 2.3L I4 that makes 270 horsepower, and 310 lb-ft of torque. If you want even more power, then you can look for the optional 2.7L V6. This engine can make 315 horsepower, and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Being that this is a truck, people will want to tow their trailer, and with both engines, you can tow a max of 7,500-pounds, with the payloads being the only difference. If you want the highest payload capacity, then you’ll want the I4 that can haul 1,778-pounds, with the V6 able to haul 1,542-pounds.
The Raptor trim comes with a unique engine, this one being the 3.0L V6. It can churn out 405 horsepower, and 430 lb-ft of torque. While this can’t tow as much as the other engines, this one is meant for fun. In tests done by MotorTrend, they found that this trim can go 0-60 in just 5.8-seconds. For a truck this size, you won’t find something better.
